When Sgt. Jacinto Bernardo returned home from his deployment in Okinawa, Japan, he wanted nothing more than to enjoy quality time with his family and finally be able to eat a cheeseburger.
But what he got instead brought him to tears.
Bernardo’s closest friends and family decided to team up and put $70,000 worth of repairs into his home to show him how much they appreciated his 21 years of service to the United States. It was still the same home he knew and loved, except installed with a new ceiling, new floors – new everything.
