Just last week, a 3-year-old boy was reported as kidnapped from a library outside San Francisco. Tim Watson, a Valley Transportation Authority bus driver, spotted a man and a young boy on his bus just an hour later who resembled the description of the suspected kidnapper and child.
What tipped Tim off was the young boy crying. That’s when this bus driver, himself a father of two, tapped into his fatherly instincts.
Tim devised a brilliant plan to thwart the kidnapper and turn him over to authorities. He didn’t want to alert the suspect, so he pulled the bus over and alerted the passengers to a backpack that may have been left behind from an earlier rider. As he pretended to to search for the backpack, Tim took the opportunity to call 911. When the bus arrived at the station, police were there waiting. When the 23-year-old suspect got off the bus with the missing 3-year-old in his arms, police apprehended him.
When Tim learned the truth, that this was in fact an abduction, he broke down. “This could have been my child that was abducted, I feel I did what any father would do.” This man is a true hero, and saved a young boy from who KNOWS what.
