Noah Galloway interpreted his struggles with a passionate performance on Dancing with the Stars.
He’s blown the judges away before when he performed the tango, but nothing compares to this.
The song of choice, Toby Keith’s “American Soldier,” fittingly speaks on his life with lyrics that include, “And I don’t want to die for you / but if dying’s asked of me / I’ll bear that cross with honor / ’Cause freedom don’t come free.”
After the attacks on September 11, 2001, Galloway voluntarily joined the military. Four years later, he had to have his left arm and leg amputated after being struck by a roadside bomb. Although initially stricken by depression, Galloway decided to accept his disability and live life to the fullest. His current motto: “No excuses.”
His experience led him to this sentimental dance with partner Sharna Burgess, which made the crowd roar at the :42 mark.
Judge Julianne Hough tried to hold back her tears as she praised the veteran for his courage.
“We all have things that we look at and we don’t like about ourselves, but for you to have something physical and you come out here and do what you do and astonish us every single week, you help us to keep going,” she said.
Fellow judge Bruno Tonioli even called Galloway a superhero.
