There’s a reason why they say some of our talents are God-given. Without Him, there’s no way we could possess these type of beautiful skills. One person who definitely has a God-given skill is Father Ray Kelly. Before going viral due to his stunning singing voice, Father Kelly spent his days as the priest of St. Brigid’s and St. Mary’s parish at Oldcastle, County Meath, Ireland. Almost every waking second of his life was spent thinking about God and how His word heals all, but in the slivers of free time, Father Kelly loved to sing. Occasionally, he would share that passion by singing with friends and loved ones — he had no idea those little gigs would lead him to the Britain’s Got Talent stage.
Instead of hiding his singing voice from the world, he decided to share it with millions of people watching at home. With the lyrics to “Everybody Hurts” by REM memorized, the microphone in his hand and his courage summoned, Father Kelly started his audition. The judges watched eagerly as the priest sang his heart out just feet in front of them. Was his performance going to be enough to move him into the next round?
As the song went on, several audience members started to cheer. But the moment Father Kelly wrapped up his performance, the crowd went absolutely nuts with applause! His voice was so smooth and powerful — the combination is rare nowadays and the audience knew it! Even though the crowd clearly loved his performance, the judges’ thoughts were still up in the air. Would they feel the same way? Check out their responses to Father Kelly in the video here. We can’t wait to see what else this priest has in store!
