Jason Heigl was only 15 when he died in a tragic car accident. Nancy and Katherine Heigl started the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation as his legacy, keeping alive his spirit for love and compassion for all animals.

“The goal of JDHF is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance.” Through their Compassion Revolution initiative, they hope to reduce the stray animal overpopulation in the Los Angeles area using an extensive no-kill model. Through funding area spay/neuter programs, training and educating pet owners, and supporting the crowded and strugling shelters, they are able to reduce the number of euthanized animals.

Penelope is one pup that might not have made it, had it not been for the kindness and compassion of her rescuers along with the funding provided through organizations like The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. From barely clinging to life, to a happy energetic pup, her transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Penelope has snce found a loving new family, but there are still many other animals still looking for homes.
