We all love the video for Taylor Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.” Taylor’s funky costume changes, hilarious facial expressions, and awkward dance scenes certainly make this one-of-a-kind music video unique!
The residents of the Julia Wallace Retirement Village were so fond of Taylor’s “Shake If Off” in fact, that they decided to recreate the entire music video, scene for scene. The spot-on outfits, the high-level energy, and the perfect amount of pizzazz – oh my!
The final product is truly hilarious! Starting out the same way Taylor did, the video opens with a woman popping her head up from a group of stretching ballerinas, only to break out in song…
The elderly woman playing Taylor in the video lip syncs to Taylor’s voice, “I stay out too late. Got nothing in my brain. That’s what people say, mmm mmm. That’s what people say, mmm mmm!”
As this Taylor-twin mouths the hilarious lyrics to the pop star’s song, she also mimics the movements and gestures that Taylor performed in the original video. Move over Taylor, because these residents are on fire!
After wrapping up the initial ballet segment, these extremely talented retirees jump into the boombox scene – and boy do they nail every detail! The red and black outfits, the hats and hoods, and of course, the “boombox!”
Prepare yourself – this retirement home “Shake If Off” rendition is without a doubt laugh-out-loud hilarious! The video caption tells us that it took a week to create the “special tribute” – and that it consisted of 50 residents, grandchildren, and staff from the Julia Wallace Retirement Village.
It also noted, “With an average of 82 and a combined of more than 4,000 years, these retirees proved you’re never too old to Shake It Off and have loads of fun.” It’s clearly evident that they did and it’s just as fun watching them!
In fact, more than four million people have gotten a kick out of watching these energetic senior citizens on YouTube. Their comments posted show that they love it and you will, too!
