Pop culture has the power to take the world by storm. You never know when some weird type of dance move will pop up and spread all over the globe. I am sure you remember the “macarena”, the “YMCA”, and the most recent, the “Whip and Nae Nae”. It seems as if every generation has that moment when everyone comes together to move to the same tune.
In the summer of 1960s, that tune was Chubby Checker’s “The Twist”. This hit song by Checker was his rendition of the Hank Ballard tune. It also set the record as the first song to ever hit number one on two different occasions. The song is not only is energetic, but it also has its own signature dance move, which might be one of the reasons for its popularity.
