A construction worker was trapped on a balcony in a raging inferno, not knowing if he would live or die. Employees at a nearby high-rise say the man tried to control the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the blaze quickly spread out of control. People watched in horror as the man looked desperately for a way to escape safely.
The $50 million, 396-unit apartment complex is located in downtown Houston, Tx. Officials believe the blaze was caused by sparks from welding being done on the roof. The fire took only 20 minutes to spread across the entire complex.
Luckily, no lives were lost in this horrific fire, in which more than 80 units and 200 personnel with the Houston Fire Department responded to.
