Little Girl Sings Different Version Of ‘Hallelujah’ And Puts Entire Audience In Tears

You don’t need to be a grown up to have an extremely powerful and moving voice. People of all ages have proven themselves to be talented artists. From toddlers like Claire Ryann who can belt their hearts out to Disney Classics to Willie Nelson pumping out hits at 70 – talent knows no age limit! This little girl from the Killard House School in England is proof that it also looks past disabilities. Her stunningly beautiful performance of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” shows us that autism and other disabilities don’t have to hold people back. She belts out each note with such conviction and soul that it’s hard not to tear up while she’s on stage. The talented little lady, whose name is Kayleigh Rogers, knows all of the words by heart and doesn’t need sheet music to guide her! What’s most impressive is that Kayleigh memorized the words to this song, despite the fact that she has autism and ADHD. The 10-year-old songstress doesn’t let her disabilities define her – she has so much more to give to the world! Kayleigh’s mom, Tracy, told BBC that singing has always been her daughter’s calling.
“She always loved singing, but it wasn’t until she started at Killard House School that she really came into her own. He’s like her safety blanket – he’s amazing.”
The principal of Killard House, Colin Millar, told the Belfast Telegraph that Kayleigh’s cover brought people to tears that day – even men three times her size. He said:
“When she took to the stage in her Killard House uniform an amazed silence engulfed the room. The next four-and-a-half minutes were pure magic as she sang beautifully to an entranced audience and brought grown men to tears.”
Millar later spoke to BBC about how singing is Kayleigh’s way of opening up to the world:
“All my kids have talents, as well as barriers, and this is hers. She’d be a very quiet little girl, but when she sings, she just opens up… For a child who came in P4 (7 to 8 years old) and wouldn’t really talk, wouldn’t really read out in class, to stand and perform in front of an audience is amazing. It takes a lot of effort on Kaylee’s part.”
Kaylee’s performance of “Hallelujah” is one of the purest and most heartfelt renditions out there with lyrics that’s perfect for the season. Hopefully Kayleigh releases more music in the future – the world is waiting with bated breath!
